I STILL HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS A FIDUCIARY?
A fiduciary is someone who is legally & ethically obligated to act in your best interest (aka your highest & best!). It is considered the highest standard of professional care in the financial services industry.
WHAT DOES FEE-ONLY MEAN?
I operate as a fee-only planner. This means I are compensated only by the fixed fees I charge my clients for my services. In other words, the only way I get paid is YOU, so my only priority is serving YOU! I are not compensated in any other way. I do not earn commissions or receive any benefits from the recommendations I make. For example, as part of financial planning, if I recommend a particular financial product, it’s because I genuinely believe it’s in your best interest. Whether you ultimately choose to purchase that product doesn’t affect me in any way because I don’t receive any financial benefit (e.g. commissions or kickbacks from a third-party financial institution by selling you that product). Being fee-only allows me to uphold my fiduciary duty, offer objective financial advice, reduce potential conflicts of interest, and be transparent about my compensation structure.
Other financial planners and advisers may be fee-based (instead of fee-only). This means they charge fees for their services but can also earn commissions or other forms of compensation from financial product sales. This dual-compensation model creates potential conflicts of interest and makes it more challenging to act as a fiduciary.
WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
I serve conscious, heart-centered or spiritually-minded individuals, couples, and families. So whether you are a corporate professional who recognizes the value of holistic and intuitive living, or a spiritual individual who seeks guidance in navigating the tangible aspects of money, I can help!
My typical client includes conscious & heart-led business owners and those who work in holistic healing or helping professions. But ultimately, I welcome anyone who resonates with and desires my services! Alignment and intention outweigh demographic-like characteristics.
WHO IS NOT A GOOD FIT?
The nature of this work is very hands on, intentional, educational and collaborative. In order to support you in taking physical and/or energetic control of your money, there is a certain level of involvement that’s required of you throughout this process (whether that’s gathering financial documentation or completing a homework assignment). You are an integral part of your financial success.
If you are looking to be hands off or don’t want to invest a lot of time in your own financial healing and growth, we’re probably not a good fit in working together. Furthermore, if you are expecting a quick financial fix or short-term financial gains we’re also not a good fit.
WHERE DO YOU SERVE CLIENTS?
I am a 100% virtual practice. All of my meetings are held via Zoom. While I am based in Phoenix, AZ, I do not have a physical office space there.
Financial Advisory Services (Holistic Financial Plan & Mini Financial Plan): These are only available to U.S. citizens currently residing in the U.S.
Non-Financial Advisory Services: These offerings are available to everyone worldwide.
DO YOU HAVE A FINANCE BACKGROUND?
Yes! I hold both a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and an MBA with a Finance emphasis. I have also completed an additional year of rigorous financial planning education for the CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER), although I am still working towards that credential. Furthermore, I hold my FINRA Series 65 license, which allows me to legally provide financial and investment advice. I am also a Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Professional (FPAC). Outside of my formal education, I have over six years of experience in public accounting, namely working with corporate clients in the banking & capital markets industry.
WHAT IF, DURING THE ENGAGEMENT, WE DISCOVER YOU ARE UNABLE TO SUPPORT ME IN A SPECIFIC AREA?
As a financial planner, I am a lot like a general family physician: I know a lot about various personal finance topics, but am not necessarily an expert in any one particular domain (such as taxes, estate planning, etc.). Furthermore, laws also prevent me from taking on certain tasks & responsibilities. For example, I am not a CPA and thus, I cannot legally prepare and file your tax return. I am also not an Estate Planning Attorney and therefore cannot legally draft up your living will.
While I do my best to catch this upfront before any work commences, it is still possible that during our engagement, I discover that I do not have the correct licenses, skills or expertise to support you in a particular area. If this is happens, I will either (a) modify the terms of our agreement and issue a new agreement and revised fee or (b) terminate the engagement and refund you for any work not completed.
I may also refer you out to a specialist who can help (such as CPA, Estate Planning Attorney, Insurance Agent, or Real Estate Broker) or happily work along side your existing one.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION & REFUND POLICY?
Financial Advisory Services (Holistic Financial Plan & Mini Financial Plan): My highest priority is to ensure you’re happy with my services and that working together continues to feel aligned. If at any point you decide to terminate the engagement prematurely, there will be no penalty. Since fees are paid in advance, a prorated refund will be given to you for any unearned fee. I simply require a written notice as soon as possible.
Non-Financial Advisory Services: Please see applicable service(s) page(s) for refund details.
HOW DO I PAY YOU?
I utilize a secure, online payment system called AdvicePay for all my service offerings. AdvicePay is a compliant payment processor and accepts payments made via credit cards, debit cards, and ACH. We’ll discuss this in greater detail upon working together.
DO YOU MANAGE MY INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO?
No. At this time, I do not offer Investment Management where I manage your investment portfolio on your behalf. However, as a fiduciary, I aim to recommend the best investment management methods to my clients. That could look like opening and managing your own accounts (a DIY approach), utilizing a robo-advisor, or paying an active manager. I’ll educate you on your options and help you select the one that best fits your needs.
WHAT DOES INVESTMENT ANALYSIS INCLUDE?
While I don’t manage your portfolio for you, I do offer Investment Analysis as part of my holistic financial planning service. This includes:
- A review of your current investment portfolio (to see if it’s structured to meet your financial goals)
- Crafting a suitable asset allocation strategy
- Exploring potential investment vehicles and investment options
- Educating you on the benefits and risks of investing
I’ll even help you open an investment account if you are completely new to investing.
WHAT IS YOUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY?
When it comes to Investment Analysis, I believe in a passive investment strategy. The focus is on building sustainable wealth rather than trying to time the market or chase short-term gains. I believe a slow & steady approach to investing is key; this is a characteristic of Divine Feminine energy.
As a conscious and soul-led business, I am also a proponent of socially responsible investing (SRI) where it makes sense for my clients. SRI is a strategy that considers not only the financial returns from an investment but also its environmental, ethical and social impact.
DO I NEED TO BE SPIRITUAL TO WORK WITH YOU?
Not at all! I work with folks from a variety of backgrounds, helping them navigate their relationship with money and/or craft a personalized financial plan. If you bring an open mind and a desire to transform your financial life, I’d love to support you!
That being said, if there’s ever a tool or method that doesn’t resonate with you, just let me know and I’ll tailor my approach accordingly.
I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A HOLISTIC FINANCIAL PLAN BUT IT FEELS A LITTLE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE
You can work with me in many other ways! I periodically host events and workshops. Additionally, I frequently post educational content on social media and offer complimentary resources. We can also discuss whether it makes sense to start with a mini financial plan, which may be a more affordable option for you now.
When something feels out of reach, see it as an invitation to focus on the energetic work. Wealth energetics is the foundational aspect of repairing and growing our finances. Ask yourself, “Where might I not be ready for ongoing financial planning? What fears do I still need to work through? What actions can I take today to prepare myself to grow into that next level service tier I desire?”
ARE YOU AN EXPERT IN A SPECIFIC SPIRITUAL TOOL OR MODALITY?
I don’t claim to be an expert in any one spiritual tool or healing modality. For example, I am not a professional intuitive, human design expert, or licensed clinical therapist. But I’ve studied and have high-level knowledge of what tools are available in our mental, emotional and energetic toolkit.
I prefer to draw upon various tools rather than focusing (or relying) on one specific area. I like the freedom to synthesize information from these various modalities – seeing where there’s overlap or recurring themes. It allows me to create a plan/protocol tailored to each client.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FINANCIAL PLANNER, A FINANCIAL COACH, AND A FINANCIAL ADVISOR?
While there is not one single, clear definition for these three types of finance professionals, here is how I would describe them:
A Financial Coach is someone who:
- Covers cash flow & budgeting basics
- Can provide you with tools and strategies for paying off debt
- Can provide accountability and encouragement on your journey towards your financial goals
- Can help you create healthy financial habits
- Can provide fundamental financial literacy
Financial coaches cannot legally provide investment advice unless they are also a licensed investment advisor representative (IAR). They may hold additional credentials like the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) or Financial Fitness Coach (FFC).
A Financial Planner takes a more holistic approach to serving others financially. They can do what a Financial Coach can do while also helping you in other areas of personal finance, such as investments, taxes, insurance, retirement, estate planning, and more. A Financial Planner must have a securities license through FINRA to provide financial advice or assist others in managing investments. They also need an insurance license if they are looking to sell insurance products. They may also hold additional credentials such as the CFP®, ChFC, CFT-I, CFA, CPA, or EA.
Like a Financial Planner, a Financial Advisor is qualified to provide investment advice. However, they typically focus on Investment Management, although some offer financial planning as an ancillary service.
CAN I HIRE YOU FOR A SPEAKING EVENT?
